Title: Accounting Specialist 

Department: Accounting  

Reports To: Accounting Manager 

Schedule: 8:00-5:00, Mon.-Fri.  

Location: Nonconnah 

FLSA Status: Non-exempt 

Grade: 8  

 

 

Responsibilities

  1. Serve our members. 
  2. Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department. 
  3. Perform various accounting transactions in support of the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. 
  4. Accurately verify and post general ledger entries. 
  5. Ensure the timely completion of daily accounting tasks. 
  6. Reconcile General Ledger accounts as assigned. 
  7. Process check requests and expense reports on a regular basis. 
  8. Review and process vendor invoices. 
  9. Address and respond to vendor inquires. 
  10. Scan and archive all paperwork for audit trail. 
  11. Provide support to the Share Draft Department. 
  12. Must maintain strictly confidential information pertaining to the Credit Association, member, and employee business. 
  13. Maintains regulatory compliance including the Bank Secrecy Act. 
  14. Follows the CARE and QA Service Standards and maintains excellent understanding of FECA products and services. 
  15. Participates in ongoing training for professional and personal development. 
  16. Maintains a positive, professional attitude and works well with a team. 
  17. All other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Qualifications

  1. Four-year accounting or business-related degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 1 years of Financial Institution experience preferred, including understanding of credit union philosophy and knowledge of credit union rules and regulations.  
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication and basic math skills.  
  3. Must be accurate, organized, attentive to details, and manage time well.  
  4. Excellent customer service skills. 
  5. Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. 
  6. Ability to apply necessary accounting practices for compliance with credit union laws, rules, and regulations. 
  7. Good analytical skills in resolving accounting errors. 
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with Symitar a plus.
